Dynamic returns to scale and geography in U.S. banking
نویسندگان
چکیده
We observe spatial cost dependence among medium-sized and large U.S. banks (1998Q1–2020Q4). contribute to the literature by accounting for this using an accessible dynamic econometric model. For a movement along bank's output expansion path, we calculate returns that spillover to/from bank. The noticeable impacts of 2020 COVID pandemic are on not own returns. These suggest led smallest (largest) becoming suboptimally smaller (bigger). A number with high-ranking have geographically concentrated branches and/or specialize in particular activities.

متن کاملDynamic Influence Maximization Under Increasing Returns to Scale
Influence maximization is a problem of maximizing the aggregate adoption of products, technologies, or even beliefs. Most past algorithms leveraged an assumption of submodularity that captures diminishing returns to scale. While submodularity is natural in many domains, early stages of innovation adoption are often better characterized by convexity, which is evident for renewable technologies, ...
متن کاملAn input-oriented radial measure for returns to scale aggregation.
In production theory, it is necessary to be capable of predicting the production func- tion’s long-run behaviors. Hereof, returns to scale is a helpful concept. Returns to scale describes the reaction of a production function to the proportionally scaling all its input variables. In this regard, Data envelopment analysis (DEA) provides a com- prehensive framework for returns to scale evaluation...
متن کاملCreating Full Envelopment in Data Envelopment Analysis with Variable Returns to Scale Technology
In this paper, weak defining hyperplanes and the anchor points in DEA, as an important subset of the set of extreme efficient points of the Production Possibility Set (PPS), are used to construct unobserved DMUs and in the long run to improve the envelopment of all observed DMUs. There has been a surge of articles on improving envelopment in recent years. What has been done first is in Constant...
